Mathematics

Maxwell Kane

"My favorite part of studying at UL Lafayette is the community of friends and classmates I鈥檝e built since arriving here. Almost all math majors know each other and are friends. Additionally, I鈥檝e been able to make friends beyond the walls of Maxim Doucet thanks to the minors I am pursuing.鈥

Meet Maxwell Kane, mathematics major

You should major in mathematics if:

  • You enjoy critical and analytical thinking.
  • You鈥檙e drawn to the science of numbers and their manipulation.
  • You can communicate effectively and are excellent at time management.

Numbers are the language of the universe. Learn to speak it by majoring in mathematics.

Math is not only a building block for the sciences, but it can be applied to nearly every professional field.

As a math major, you鈥檒l explore the complexities of calculus, algebra, statistics, and other high-level math. You鈥檒l learn logic, reason, and understanding.
