The 2nd Annual Ragin' Cajuns ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥ Celebration, an event to support the coaches of ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥ ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥, will take place on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 7 p.m. in the Cajundome Convention Center. The event, organized by business leaders in the community, is expected to draw more than 1,000 Cajuns supporters to salute the work the Cajuns coaches have done and will continue to do to build ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥ ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥.
"We were grateful for the support for our the inaugural event last year, but the response this year has been amazing. Businesses from throughout Acadiana are stepping up to sponsor this event, buy tables and be a part of what we know is going to be a special night for our coaches," said Blaine Barrilleaux, one of the coordinators for this event.
The initial event, which was held in the spring of 2012, raised more than $150,000. Event organizers have surpassed that total already and are aiming at a goal of $250,000.
Demand for tickets has been high though individual tickets and tables are still available, though event organizers believe the event will be an advanced sellout.
"Last year we sold between 300-400 tickets on the day of the event," event organizer Ken Meyers said. "At our current pace, not only will we sell the several tables we have open right now, but we will also sell out the individual tickets as well."
The remaining tickets and individual tickets are now on sale through the event or at .
Individual tickets, which gain admission for two people, are $150.
