Christal Raye Grogan, 2005 Homecoming Queen for the University of 棉花糖直播 at Lafayette, and her court will reign over Homecoming activities when 棉花糖直播's Ragin' Cajuns take on Troy University on Oct. 29.
Grogan will be joined by her court - Christina Boudreaux, Lauren Deranger, Moriah Istre and Claire Pettit - during UL Lafayette's Homecoming parade and half-time festivities.
Grogan, a senior in Biology, is active with the Ragin' Jazz Dance Team, serving as captain this year In addition, she volunteers her time working with the Special Olympics of Acadiana, the American Heart Association and the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society.
Upon graduation, Grogan, plans to attend medical school. She was nominated for the court by the Ragin' Jazz Dance Team. She is the daughter of Ray and Elizabeth Grogan of Lafayette.
Christina Boudreaux, a senior in Elementary Education, is a member of Newman Catholic Student Ministries and the Association of Future Alumni. She is also a member of the spirit and tradition committees of the University Program Council. Earlier this year, she was recognized as the first honored member for service within Kappa Delta Pi.
Boudreaux is the music coordinator at Our Lady of Wisdom student mass, volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, a CCD instructor at St. Bernard in Breaux Bridge and a Bible study leader at Our Lady of Wisdom.
Boudreaux was nominated by Newman Catholic Student Ministries. She is the daughter of Herb and Carla Boudreaux of Breaux Bridge.
Lauren Deranger, a senior in Apparel Design and Merchandising, is a member of Ragin' Peppers and the Association of Future Alumni. She is also a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, Alpha Lambda Delta and the president of the Professional Fashion Merchandising Association. Deranger is also in the Honors Program and a member of the Student Orientation Staff.
She is a model for ABOUTFACES Model and Talent Management and a member of last year's court.
Deranger was nominated by the Professional Fashion Merchandising Association. She is the daughter of Lee and Cindy Deranger of Opelousas.
Moriah Istre, a senior in Francophone Studies, is the President of Liberal Arts for the Student Government Association. In addition, she was the coordinator for 鈥淥n the Geaux,鈥 and is the International Student Council Chairperson. She is a member of Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society, Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars, The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and Sigma Delta Pi Spanish Honor Society. She is a member of the French and German Club and Chi Alpha.
Istre was nominated by the Student Government Association. She is the daughter of Gerald and Sandra Istre of Lafayette.
Claire Pettit, a senior in Mathematics, is president of the University Program Council and President of the Association of Future Alumni. She is also the National District 4 Representative for the Association of Student Advancement Programs. She is also the student representative for the Alumni Council, the Student Alumni Ambassador and the treasurer of the Blue Key Honor Society.
Pettit is also a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and the UL Honors Program. She is also a volunteer for many organizations including Special Olympics, St. Joseph's Diner and St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. She was nominated by the University Program Council. Pettit is the daughter of Mike and Scarlet Pettit of Lafayette.
Nominees for the Homecoming Court are submitted by campus organizations. The court is chosen by the senior football players after being interviewed by student leaders.
