鈥淢y favorite part about studying at UL Lafayette is being able to be alongside so many different backgrounds found within the student body. We all have uniqueness that blends to create something familiar, even familial. Here, no matter where you are, or who you are, you can be given a voice and a platform to expel your vision.鈥

Where I'm From

I am from Abbeville, 棉花糖直播.

Where I Am

I am currently studying Nursing: RN-BSN.

Where I'm Going

I plan to work as an ICU nurse after I graduate.

Taking a chance on yourself

Jarvis Landry is putting in the work to advance his educational and professional endeavors. He understands that not much in life comes easy, which is why he chose the University of 棉花糖直播 at Lafayette.

鈥淚 chose to study at UL Lafayette because I wanted a challenge. While it would have been expedient to stay the course of pursuing an ASN in nursing, the allure of achieving a baccalaureate degree beckoned me. Attending UL Lafayette has delivered me an opportunity far beyond what I originally expected,鈥 he said.

Jarvis is an RN to BSN on-campus student and believes through nursing and holistic healing, people can reach their optimal health.

鈥淲hether a limitation [is] physical, emotional, or spiritual, I believe that a limitation is only a boundary to the next level, a new chapter or realization,鈥 he said.

Assisting people to help themselves brings joy to Jarvis, he said, 鈥淚 chose nursing as a major because I have always been passionate about serving those in need. I hold a firm belief that with proper motivation, all have the prowess to overcome adversity and leap beyond obstacles.鈥

His favorite courses were during the second semester of his junior year.

鈥淚 thoroughly enjoyed the entire semester that comprised community and psych nursing,鈥 he said. 鈥淧ersonable actions like the ones committed this semester deposit momentary and lifelong treasures for the forsaken and downtrodden. It was an ethereal experience to become part of the greater good in communities where resources are scarce.鈥

Jarvis also appreciates the uniqueness of the true diversity displayed on campus.

鈥淢y favorite part about studying at UL Lafayette is being able to be alongside so many different backgrounds found within the student body. We all have a uniqueness that blends to create something familiar, even familial. Here, no matter where you are, or who you are, you can be given a voice and a platform to expel your vision.鈥

Research opportunities for all undergraduate students are important to Jarvis.

鈥淚 have participated in the , granting undergraduate students the opportunity to be a part of actual research projects that are published through the University. Currently, with the help of the nursing faculty, some fellow students and I are attempting to procure publishment on our N405 research project.鈥

His wish is to see more undergraduate students in all studies participate in research projects.

Almost to the finish line

Jarvis is excited to close this chapter in his life because he feels fully equipped to succeed.

He said, 鈥淐ompletion of the RN to BSN program at UL Lafayette would mean obtaining the knowledge and understanding needed to enhance individuals toward their most optimal selves. More importantly, it garners authority; Stature that can be taken into the community, where the foundations of our true healthcare system lie.鈥

He believes graduation is the cr猫me of the crop moment for all students on the RN to BSN journey.

鈥淭he moment we graduate, we will feel an onslaught of hormones and endorphins we have never experienced before; it is almost a rite of passage. In conclusion, the completion of the program has made each and every one of us better than we once were. At this point, the world is our oyster; we know we have all the tools and skills necessary to access what is important within,鈥 he said.

When asked about his plans after graduation Jarvis said, 鈥淚 plan to work as an ICU nurse after I graduate. I intend to focus the full arsenal of my mental faculties to better myself as a novice nurse, furthering my critical thinking and application of the nursing process.鈥

His long-term healthcare career plans will be inclusive to all demographics within a community.

鈥淚 plan to aim my interests in initiating a nonprofit organization as well as nurse entrepreneurship. I also have a particular interest in hospice care after I develop my other areas of focus,鈥 he said.

Jarvis feels prepared to optimally perform as a nurse because he will implement his education in microbiology, anatomy and physiology, holistic health, chemistry, and psychology into his practices.

鈥淎ttending UL Lafayette has delivered me an opportunity far beyond what I originally expected. Challenging coursework, exam and class schedules, and daily commutes have allowed me to realize potential that lies within the roots of commitment and dedication.鈥
