Robin Roy will reign as 2013 Homecoming Queen

Robin Roy of Lafayette, a senior majoring in mechanical engineering, will reign as the University of ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥ at Lafayette’s 2013 Homecoming queen.

Maids on the Homecoming Court are Erica David of Jennings, La.; Blair Guidry of Breaux Bridge, La.; Sarah LeBlanc of Opelousas, La.; Lindsey LeJeune of Lafayette; Jade Peart of Lafayette; and Shelbi Roy of Breaux Bridge, La. Nominees for the court are submitted by UL Lafayette student organizations. Senior Ragin’ Cajun football players choose the court after nominees have been interviewed.

The Homecoming Court will be ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥d on a float in the annual Homecoming Parade that begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2. Later that day, its members will be presented on the football field during halftime of the Homecoming game. ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥â€™s Ragin’ Cajuns will battle the New Mexico State Aggies at 4 p.m. at Cajun Field on Homecoming Day.

This year's Homecoming theme is "Best Homecoming Week Ever."

Roy is vice president of the Student Government Association. She previously served as the 2012-13 SGA College of Engineering president and 2011-12 SGA senator.

Roy was nominated for the Homecoming Court by SGA.

She is treasurer of Pi Tau Sigma Mechanical Engineering Honor Society and is listed in Who’s Who Among College Students. She has served as a Lifeteen Youth Ministry volunteer core member and 2nd grade religion teacher at St. Mary Mother of the Church in Lafayette, La.

Roy is the daughter of David and Robin Roy and Lien and An Thai.

Erica David is a pre-dental hygiene major.

She was nominated by SOUL Camp, which is a program that helps new students develop leadership skills and promotes Ragin’ Cajun spirit through community service, social activities, team building and mentoring. David was a SOUL Camp mentor in 2012 and a member of the lead staff for 2012-2013.

She is philanthropy chair of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, a member of the Kinesiology Professional Association and has volunteered for United Way and St. Jude’s Hospital projects.

David’s parents are Virginia and Mitch Sonnier and Wendell David.

An accounting major, Blair Guidry was nominated by the Institute of Management Accountants.

She is treasurer of that organization and was invited to represent UL Lafayette at the IMA Student Leadership Conference in North Carolina.

Guidry is a member of the 2013 SOUL Camp Leadership Team and its fundraising chair. She is also a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society.

Guidry participated in the Autism Society of Acadiana Walk and has assisted with St. Joseph’s Diner in Lafayette.

Her parents are Chris and Lea Guidry.

Sarah LeBlanc has served in various leadership roles in Kappa Delta Sorority, the organization that nominated her for the 2013 Homecoming Court.

She is majoring in psychology and is a member of Blue Key Honor Society, the University’s Honors Program, and Psi Chi Psychology Honors Club.

LeBlanc is a Student Government Association senator, was a member of the Student Orientation Staff in 2010 and was a SOUL Camp mentor in 2012. She has volunteered at the Healing House and went on a mission trip to Puerto Rico in 2011.

LeBlanc is the daughter of Keith and Debbie LeBlanc.

Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity nominated Lindsey LeJeune for the 2013 Homecoming Court.

She is majoring in health promotion and wellness.

LeJeune is president of Student Government Association’s College of Education. She served as executive director of the Big Event, a day of student community service, for the Student Leadership Council.

A Kappa Delta Sorority alumna, LeJeune is a member of Blue Key Honor Society, was the 2011 Outstanding Sophomore of the Year, was named 2012 Outstanding Junior of the Year and is listed in Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges 2013.

Her parents are Joey and Debbie LeJeune.

Jade Peart, a public relations major, was nominated for the 2013 Homecoming Court by Sigma Gamma Mu Communications Honor Society.

She is an active member of the University Program Council and served on UPC’s Executive Board as a representative at large and is a leader of UPC's Street Team.

Peart is a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America, a member of the Ragin' Ambassadors; and served on the Event and Programming Committee for the Big Event, a day of student community service.

Brooksy Hernandez is her parent.

Shelbi Roy is a three-year member of the Ragin’ Jazz Dance Team, which nominated her for this year’s Homecoming Court.

She is majoring in marketing.

Roy is a member of the University Program Council’s Street Team and was nominated for Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.

She has volunteered for the University’s Reading in Red tour of elementary schools; the Games of Acadiana; Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Man/Women of the Year; the Acadiana Heart Walk; and Operation Home Front, which supports local, injured military veterans.

Roy is the daughter of John and Patti Roy.
