Rodriguez Joins Alumni Staff

Lana Rodriguez recently joined the UL Lafayette Alumni Association staff as an assistant director.

She'll work with alumni, planning events like homecoming and Spring Gala. She previously worked as an admissions counselor in Enrollment Services at the university, recruiting out-of-state students. Rodriguez said she knows the skills she learned in Enrollment Services will be beneficial.

"Whether planning events for alumni or students, the same skills will apply. My recruiting skills will also be helpful in working with volunteers," she said.

Rodriguez, a 1999 graduate, is no stranger to the Alumni Association. While pursuing her undergraduate degree in criminal justice, she held a student worker position at the association. She was part of the team that raised funds to complete the initial phases of the Walk of Honor, the pathway around the Quadrangle which recognizes each graduate with a personalized brick.

As an admissions counselor, Rodriguez worked with alumni living out-of-state to assist in recruiting students to attend UL Lafayette. She also coordinated Enrollment Services' Discover program, which schedules events in various locales to showcase what the university has to offer potential students.

Event planning will be a big part of Rodriguez's new duties, said Dan Hare, the association’s executive director.

"It's a benefit to have someone with the planning skills Lana has," Hare said. "She'll be at the center of homecoming and Spring Gala, so her abilities will defintely be an asset. It's great to have her as part of our staff again."
