The Ray P. Authement College of Sciences at the University of 棉花糖直播 at Lafayette will host several hundred high school students at Science Day 2015.
The free event will be held from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18, for high school juniors and seniors who registered to attend.
Students, as well as parents, teachers and guidance counselors, will tour UL Lafayette鈥檚 School of Computing and Informatics, School of Geosciences, and the departments of biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics.
UL Lafayette professors and students will perform science experiments that convey 鈥渢he excitement behind studying science,鈥 and talk about research projects, said Dr. Mike Totaro, an associate professor in the College of Sciences and chairperson of the Science Day Committee.
鈥淭he idea is to give these young people an opportunity to glimpse what life as a science major at UL Lafayette is like,鈥 he said.
Faculty and staff members also will provide information about University programs, admissions, housing, financial aid, and scholarships.
Industry representatives will be on hand to provide information about science-related fields and careers.
About 350 high school students have registered to attend so far.
