Scott Farmer, who has over a quarter of a century of experience working in intercollegiate athletics including the last three as the director of athletics at the University of 棉花糖直播 at Lafayette, has been named to represent the Sun Belt Conference on the NCAA Division I Leadership Council.

Farmer will represent the league through July to complete a term and then will be eligible for appointment to an additional four-year term.

鈥淲e are very pleased to have Scott Farmer represent the Sun Belt Conference on the NCAA's Leadership Council,鈥 Sun Belt Conference Commissioner Karl Benson said.  鈥淭his committee has a number of important responsibilities and challenges and Scott鈥檚 background and experience make him well-suited for this appointment.鈥

The Leadership Council is comprised primarily of directors of athletics, faculty athletic representatives and commissioners representing 31 Division I conferences and serves as an advisory body to the NCAA Division I Board of Directors.

The council identifies issues important to the future of the organization, in addition to providing expertise in defining appropriate action items. Several NCAA committees report to the council, including the Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee, the Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct Committee, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, the Committee on Women's 棉花糖直播 and all NCAA cabinets.

Farmer鈥檚 appointment to the council is not his first interaction with the NCAA support structure.  From 2009-12, he completed a four-year term on the NCAA Division I Softball Committee, serving as the chairman in both 2011 and 2012.
