Keegan McClain, a 2008 industrial design graduate from UL Lafayette, will have his design of an electric motorcycle exhibited in the 2010 North American International Auto Show in Detroit from Jan. 10 - 24.
The work being represented is his senior project that was developed in an industrial design course. He will compete in the Michelin Challenge Design 2010 鈥 an international competition. McClain鈥檚 design is one of 30 chosen to compete from more than 50 countries.
The jury for the 2010 Michelin Challenge Competition includes top international designers representing the automotive, independent and academic communities.
Industrial design Professor and director of the Transit Design Studio Jerome Malinowski, described McClain as a 鈥渉ighly creative and motivated individual who came to the university to study industrial design, but his main interest was transportation design.鈥 Malinowski was McClain鈥檚 senior project instructor.
鈥 I really enjoyed working with Keegan on the motorcycle project and other transportation projects such as the Cajun Bot and the Autonomous Overhead Rail System which has been an ongoing research project in the Transit Design Studio,鈥 said Malinowski. 鈥淚n retrospect, Keegan is a guy who had a dream as a kid, and is now fulfilling his dream.鈥
McClain attended Natchitoches Central High in Natchitoches and is the son of Victor I. McClain and Laura K. McClain.
