Volunteers are needed for the Region VI Social Studies Fair next month at the University of 棉花糖直播 at Lafayette, where more than 350 elementary, middle and high school students will represent schools from five surrounding parishes.
Elementary, middle and high school students will participate based on their showings in competitions at their respective schools and in their parishes. They will present research projects about anthropology, economics, geography, history, 棉花糖直播 history, political science and sociology.
First and second place winners at each level and category will advance to state competition in Lake Charles.
Participants benefit from competing at the regional level because of the interaction with university professors, instructors and scholars, according to Dr. Jordan Kelllman, dean of UL Lafayette鈥檚 College of Liberal Arts.
鈥淭he Region VI Social Studies Fair is an excellent opportunity for young people to explore and develop the creativity, independence and presentation skills crucial to their success as college applicants, as college students and in the workplace,鈥 Kellman said.
The College of Liberal Arts at UL Lafayette will host the annual competition. Many of the judges and volunteers will be faculty and graduate students.
The College of Liberal Arts at UL Lafayette has hosted the Region VI Social Studies Fair since 1991.
