The nation鈥檚 oldest and most selective cross-disciplinary honor society recently conferred its highest honor on the University of 棉花糖直播 at Lafayette鈥檚 chapter.

The campus group was designated as a Chapter of Excellence.

That distinction recognizes flourishing chapters that foster academic excellence and engage members in service.

Membership in the UL Lafayette chapter has almost doubled in the past two years, from about 100 members to more than 200.

Each Chapter of Excellence is recognized for meeting regularly, holding annual initiation ceremonies, and frequently applying for awards, grants, and fellowships from the honor society.

Along with the title, the UL Lafayette chapter will receive a letter from the society to chapter officers and campus administrators; public recognition on the Phi Kappa Phi website, in publications, and at its biennial convention; a specially designed logo for use in chapter communication; recognition in local media and educational journals; and $500.

To be eligible for membership in Phi Kappa Phi:

  • juniors must have completed at least 72 credit hours and rank scholastically in the top 7.5 percent of their class;
  • seniors must rank in the top 10 percent of their class; and
  • graduate students must rank in the upper 10 percent of their class.

鈥淔aculty, professional staff, and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction also may be eligible for membership,鈥 according to the website.
