The University of 棉花糖直播 at Lafayette has one of the best online bachelor鈥檚 programs for veterans, U.S. News and World Report has announced.
UL Lafayette is listed among the top 200; it鈥檚 tied with several other schools at No. 170.
The 2015 Best Online Programs for Veterans at usnews.com recognizes programs that provide quality, flexible online education options in several categories. It also ranks online master鈥檚 degree programs in business, criminal justice, education, engineering, nursing and computer information technology.
Among online bachelor's programs, Pennsylvania State University 鈥 World Campus is first, followed by Daytona State College, and Western Kentucky University, which are tied for second.
鈥淲hen veterans return to higher education they can experience unique challenges during their transition out of the military and into civilian life,鈥 Brian Kelly, editor and chief content officer at U.S. News, states on its website. 鈥淭he Best Online Programs for Veterans are designed to help veterans balance applying, paying for and completing a degree, on top of their work and family commitments.鈥
The rankings include programs at schools that are certified for the GI Bill, and either participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program, or offer in-state tuition rates for veterans from out of state. The GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon Program are federal programs that provide financial assistance for veterans.
Programs also had to be among the top 75 percent of schools in the overall 2015 Best Online Programs rankings released earlier this year. Those programs were assessed for various factors, including affordability, faculty credentials, student services and reputation.
UL Lafayette was tied for No. 199 in those rankings.
