鈥淭he general studies degree is so versatile. If you鈥檙e entering this program, just go for it, because it doesn鈥檛 mean that you鈥檙e undecisive. It just means you鈥檙e exploring and learning new things along the way.鈥
鈥淕od put it on my heart that it was time to go back. I didn鈥檛 know where I was going or how I was going to do it, but I knew that I really loved UL Lafayette and that if I can go through all that school and make good grades, I deserve to finish off with something.鈥
鈥淚f it鈥檚 something you want to do, there shouldn鈥檛 be any excuses. You鈥檒l always be able to say you don鈥檛 have time, but you do. You just have to make it.鈥
鈥淭he people鈥攖he very talented people鈥攚ho work for UL Lafayette were looking out for my better interest to make sure that I got the degree that I came back for. I made As in every one of my classes when I returned because of the support I had.鈥
鈥淚 am very grateful for my advisor, Sharon Williams-Gregory. When I saw her at graduation, I had to stop myself from crying because if it weren鈥檛 for her, I probably would have quit.鈥
Karen LeDoux鈥檚 academic goals sat on the back burner for decades until she found she could use her existing college credits to complete her bachelor鈥檚 degree online. Once she walked through that door, she found new opportunities on the other side.
鈥淚 enjoyed it because I could take classes I was interested in. I didn't have a certain curriculum I had to follow to the T. Health always interested in me, so I took a lot of health and psychology classes.鈥
鈥淚t just opened like 25 cans of worms because you're learning marketing, you're learning about law, you're learning about criminal justice, you're learning about mental health, you learn about diversity. So, all things are beginning to make sense and you realize how much everything is connected. It's really cool because you get to dive in and then kind of figure out what works best for you.鈥
